EUGENE, Ore. — The Everett AquaSox lost their third straight game Sunday, falling to the Eugene Emeralds 5-3 in Northwest League action.
After finding themselves in 5-1 hole, the AquaSox chipped away, scoring a run in the sixth and mounting a rally in the ninth.
Troy Dixon delivered an RBI single in the top of the ninth to cut the Eugene lead to 5-3, but Emeralds reliever Yapson Gomez got Austin Grebeck to fly out with a runner on first to end the threat and earn his first save of the season.
Jhonny Bethencourt doubled twice and singled, and Jesus Camargo (2-1) allowed just four hits over six innings to lead the Emeralds. Camargo gave up two runs and struck out eight.
Down 1-0, the Emeralds took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. Jared Young and Bethencourt hit RBI doubles to build a two-run lead.
The Emeralds tacked on two more runs in the fourth when Aramis Ademan hit an RBI triple and then scored on a single by Gustavo Polanco.
The Emeralds roughed up Everett starting pitcher Ryne Inman (2-4). Inman allowed nine hits and five runs over four innings.
