Tips winger Lucas Grayson received a five-game suspension from the league this evening for his checking-to-the-head major penalty against Regina on Saturday. According to the WHL website Grayson was given five games for three reasons:
– He used his forearm in making the hit.
– The victim was injured.
– It was Grayson’s second suspendable offense.
The five games means Grayson is out for the rest of Everett’s road trip. It also means the Tips are down to 12 forwards for the remaining four games against the East. Of course, Everett is carrying a surplus of defensemen, so if to comes down to it the Tips can always fill the fourth line with a d-man or two.
