Lake Stevens boys hold off Mariner for first league win

LAKE STEVENS —Despite scoring just five points in the fourth quarter, Lake Stevens held on to beat Mariner and earn its first league win of the season. Mariner’s Kevin Villabos scored a game-high 23 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Marauders 21-5 run to end the game fell just short.

Freshman Trey Pavitt scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the way for the Vikings.

“He’s continued to improve all season,” Lake Stevens head coach Mark Hein said. “We told him its time to start being a double double guy, and he’s definitely held up his end of the bargain.”
