Links about Richard Sherman… Oh, a pretty big football game

By now you know that the Seahawks are Super Bowl bound, and you’ve also heard Richard Sherman is back in the spotlight, both for making an amazing play, and for what he said after the game

We’ll get to Sherman in a moment, but if you want to read about what was an amazing NFC championship game, you can find all of our coverage here.

Also plenty of good local coverage from the News Tribune here, and the Seattle Times here.

Now, as you’ve no-doubt read/seen on TV/heard on the radio, Sherman had some postgame comments that stirred up quite a bit of controversy.

Sherman himself wrote about it today for TheMMQB.com.

If you want my take on it, it really hasn’t changed since I wrote about Sherman last spring. Yes Sherman is brash, confident, and rubs some people the wrong way, but he is so much more than that persona we sometimes see.

And don’t think for a second this isn’t all very calculated. Sherman likes being in the spotlight, he makes money from it, and you’d better believe he’s thrilled that everyone’s talking about him the day after a classic game. There was no better illustration of that than when, after a segment debating Sherman’s postgame antics, ESPN’s SportsCenter cut to commercial, and we saw this commercial:

So basically, while everyone was debating Richard Sherman being controversial, Richard Sherman was making money for a commercial about Richard Sherman being controversial.

Plenty of other good takes on Sherman, here are a few from SportsOnEarth.com, The National Post and the KC Star.

If you want more on the games, here’s Mike Silver’s column on NFL.com.

Peter King has his weekly column on TheMMQB.com with plenty of Seahawks talk.
