SEATTLE — Jewell Loyd scored 25 points, Breanna Stewart added 22 points and five blocked shots and the Seattle Storm beat the San Antonio Stars 83-69 Wednesday afternoon at KeyArena.
With the victory, the Storm (9-14) moved into a tie with Washington for the WNBA’s eighth and final playoff spot, with 11 games remaining in the regular season.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 10 points, Crystal Langhorne grabbed 10 rebounds and Sue Bird had eight assists for Seattle. The Storm has recorded at least 20 assists in each of its past six games.
Dearica Hamby converted a three-point play to trim San Antonio’s deficit to 63-59 early in the fourth quarter, but Stewart scored nine points — including two 3-pointers — in a 16-0 Storm run that put Seattle up 79-59 with 4:33 to play.
Seattle shot 55 percent from the floor (17-for-31) in the second half, including six 3-pointers.
The Stars have lost five in a row.
The Storm play on the road Friday night against the defending WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx in their final game before the month-long Olympic break.
