Playoff-bound AquaSox don’t let up, pound Canadians 10-1

EVERETT — A day after clinching the Northwest League North Division second-half title and a berth in the postseason, the Everett AquaSox continued to roll with a resounding 10-1 win over the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Eric Filia went 5-for-5 with two doubles and Nick Zammarelli had three hits and drove in four runs to lead the AquaSox to their fourth consecutive win.

Everett (22-7 second half, 40-27 overall) jumped on the board quickly in the first and never looked back. Filia doubled and was driven home on a single by Zammarelli to stake the Sox to an early 1-0 lead.

After Everett scored twice in the third, Donnie Walton extended the lead to 6-0 with a three-run homer in the fourth.

Mike Baxter drove in Filia with a double in the sixth and Zammarelli capped the AquaSox’s scoring with a two-run double in the eighth.

Danny Garcia (6-1) earned the win for the AquaSox with five shutout innings.

Baxter, Walton and Yojhan Quevedo each had two hits for Everett.

Juan Tejeda had two doubles for the Canadians (10-19, 26-41).
