SHORELINE — Behind Ryan Fransen’s hat trick, the King’s soccer team overcame a 2-0 first-half deficit to defeat Lakewood in a Cascade Conference game.
Fransen’s first goal came in the 56th minute and the second — which had a little drama to it — came in the 67th minute off a header with the assist from Cameron Duncan. Fransen’s final goal in the 76th minute pulled them ahead, and made the comeback complete.
“The crowd just went crazy after that third goal,” said King’s coach Frank Lopez.
Lopez also credited the play of his goalkeeper Brett Matyski saying the two goals against him “were kind of a fluke, but he was real solid in the last part of the second half.”
Lakewood had a chance to tie the score in the final 4 minutes, but failed to score on two free kick attempts.
