EVERETT — Another five-set match, another win for the Everett volleyball team.
After opening the season with two five-setters, the Seagulls knocked off Cascade in another thriller, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 25-10, 15-8 on Thursday.
“It’s turned into a joke that we’re going five sets,” said Everett head coach Kris Jones.
The Bruins took a 2-1 lead, but after the Seagulls won the fourth set, the experience of playing all those close games came to the fore for Everett.
“Going into the fifth set, the girls said ‘We got this,’” said Jones.
Sadie Wood and Amber Hagar led Everett with 10 kills each and Jones highlighted libero Kayla Heman, who finished with 23 digs, as Everett’s steadiest player on the night.
“Her serve-receive passing was spot on as was her defense,” said Jones. “She was extremely consistent in all five games.”
Jones was also impressed with both the Cascade crowd and the Bruins team.
“It was packed, a huge crowd and it was loud,” said Jones. “If I didn’t keep checking the score I would’ve thought it was match point. This was also the scrappiest, best Cascade group in a while … I was definitely surprised.”
