Silvertips add five skaters to the fold as preseason begins

EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips announced the signing of five players to WHL standard player agreements Friday on the eve of the Holiday Inn Classic.

The newest Tips include forwards Orrin Centazzo and Brandon Hein, and defensemen Carter Brown, Ian Walker and Kyle Walker. All five players are currently on the Tips’ offical preseason roster.

Centazzo, a 5-foot-7, 150-pounder from Marwayne, Alberta, was Everett’s fifth-round pick in the 2015 bantam draft. He scored 30 goals with 23 assists in 37 regular-season games last season with the Lloydminster Rage of the AMMHL while adding five points in five playoff games.

The 17-year-old Hein is a 5-11, 180-pounder from East St. Paul, Manitoba. He scored 23 goals with 25 assists in 33 games last year for the Winnipeg Thrashers Midget AAA team, and added eight pints in six playoff games.

Brown, another 17-year-0ld, is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound blueliner from Edmonton. A 10th-round pick of the Saskatoon Blades in the 2013 bantam draft, Brown tallied 14 assists in 37 games last year for the KC Centennials of the AMMHL.

Ian Walker, a third-round pick by the Tips in the 2015 bantam draft, scored two goals and had 15 assists in 35 games for the Burnaby Winter Club Elite 15s. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is a native of Vancouver, B.C.

Kyle Walker, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder from Leduc Alberta, tallied four goals and 40 assists in 37 games with the Leduc Oil Kings minor midget AAA team. His 40 assists were tied for third in the league and he added three points in five postseason games.
