Silvertips rally past Lethbridge, snap losing skid

Riley Sutter breaks a 3-3 tie in the third as Everett snaps a 3-game losing streak with a 4-3 win.

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta — The Everett Silvertips finally came out on top in a one-goal game.

Riley Sutter and Bryce Kindopp each scored a pair of goals as the Silvertips defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 before 3,335 fans at Enmax Centre Friday.

Sutter stashed a rebound unassisted at 16:18 in the third to snap a 3-3 tie as Everett (4-6, eight points) snapped a three-game losing streak. The streak included a 5-4 loss at Medicine Hat Wednesday.

Lethbridge fell to 3-4.

Everett trailed 3-2 through two periods, but Kindopp scored his second goal of the game from inside the right circle at 5:59 in the third to tie the game. They were the first goals of the season for Kindopp while Sutter now has six goals on the season.

The come-from-behind third period came after the Hurricanes scored three times on the power play in the second to turn a 2-0 Everett lead into a 3-2 Lethbridge advantage.

The first came when Jordy Bellerive stashed the puck inside the right post at 3:58. Dylan Cozens scored the equalizer at 15:02, and Bellerive’s second goal of the game at 18:29 gave the Hurricanes the lead.

Everett took the initial lead when Kindopp crashed the net and potted a rebound of Sutter’s shot 59 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. It was the first time the Tips had led since they beat Calgary 1-0 on Oct. 6 early in the road trip.

The Tips pushed the lead to 2-0 at 18:44 when Kevin Davis fired a shot from the point that Sutter tipped past Stuart Skinner.

Sutter added an assist while Connor Dewar had two assists for the Tips.

Everett goalie Dorrin Luding had 29 saves on 32 shots. Everett outshot Lethbridge 36-32.

Everett concludes its Central Division road trip at 6 p.m. Saturday in Cranbrook, B.C., against the Kootenay Ice.
