YAKIMA — The King’s boys basketball team’s bid for a 1A state three-peat came to an end on Friday, as the Scotties’ Ryan Mained scored 20 points to help top-seeded Freeman (24-1) pull away late for a 43-34 victory in a semifinal contest.
Dawson Porcello (11) was the only player in double figures for King’s (21-6), which will play Lynden Christian for third place on Saturday.
White River 56, A. Murphy 53
YAKIMA — The Hornets’ Kendall Bird led all scorers with 34 points, but none bigger than her go-ahead basket with 20 seconds remaining to lift White River (25-3) over the Wildcats in a 2A elimination game on Friday.
Archbishop Murphy (19-5) received 13 points from Maddie Hill and 11 from Emily Rodabaugh.

SPOKANE — Nothing went right for the Lions on Friday, as the Nighthawks got off to a 7-point first-quarter lead and cruised from there in a 1B elimination game on Friday. Salome Yosef scored 15 points for CPC-Mountlake Terrace.
