Pacific Lamp can fill every bulb need

“If it glows, we’ve got it.” Pacific Lamp &Supply Company customers know that this is no idle boast. For almost 100 years, the family-owned firm has offered top customer service to the homeowners, businesses and utilities of the Puget Sound area. It is the oldest specialty lighting firm in the nation.

From ballasts to batteries, fixtures to fuses, Pacific Lamp &Supply has a vast inventory of both standard and hard-to-find lighting supplies, including the largest light bulb inventory in the Pacific Northwest.

In fact, Pacific Lamp &Supply maintains the largest single house inventory of any lighting supplier in the Pacific Northwest. Whether it’s a tiny replacement bulb for a sewing machine up to filling the property management needs for office towers and warehouses, Pacific Lamp &Supply can deliver.

Four generations of the same family have been at the helm of this venerable firm since R.A. Kelly first decided to buy it many years ago. Kelly, owner of the former Kelly’s Hardware in Seattle and one of the team of electricians who wired the Paramount and 5th Avenue Theatre, used to buy his light bulbs from Pacific Lamp &Supply’s original owner.

R.A. Kelly’s son, John Albert Kelly, is still company president. John’s wife Jeannie was co-owner and bookkeeper, until her passing last year. Mark Reynolds, the current vice president and general manager, is John Kelly’s son-in-law. Leading the fourth generation is Shannon M. Reynolds Carr. She’s sales manager and mother to 9-year-old Natalie, who already plans to carry on in her great-great-grandfather’s footsteps. It truly is a family affair.

Unlike big-box stores, the sales staff at Pacific Lamp &Supply has an average of about 20 years experience. They take pride in keeping up to date on the all the latest innovations in this constantly changing technical world. And if it’s a product that’s no longer manufactured, they most likely know a substitute.

Personalized customer service is offered whether it’s for a homeowner, a small business, a busy contractor, a property management team or a big corporation. For many customers, Pacific Lamp &Supply is the last stop but the one they wish they had made first.

Even if you haven’t heard of Pacific Lamp &Supply before, you’ve probably seen the company’s lighting solutions in action. Many skyscrapers in downtown Seattle and Bellevue — such as the Wells Fargo Building, One Bellevue Center and The Bravern — are lit by products from Pacific Lamp &Supply. You’ll also find their products illuminating the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett campus.

That’s because a large part of the company’s business is to support property management teams with inventory and solutions. Pacific Lamp &Supply is registered with Compliance Depot for property managers including Aimco, Holland, Pinnacle, BRE and Riverstone. Other property management firms Pacific Lamp &Supply assists include Wright Runstad &Co., Able Engineering, Schnitzer West, Unico Properties and Beacon Capital.

Pacific Lamp &Supply has been a member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses since 1937 and some of the company’s customers, including as Bartell Drugs, have been with them almost that long. In fact, the drug store chain honored Pacific Lamp &Supply with a Vendor of the Year award.

Other businesses served by Pacific Lamp &Supply include Puget Consumers Co-Op (PCC Natural Markets) and Whole Foods Markets. The company has assisted businesses such as Interstate Batteries, Everett Honda and Queen City Plating with retrofit projects.

Ironically, some of their largest accounts are with their competitors, whom they are able to serve through their vast inventory.

Pacific Lamp &Supply maintains close relationships with Seattle City Light, Snohomish County PUD, Puget Sound Energy and Tacoma Power. It works with the Bonneville Power Administration to serve smaller utilities across the state.

As part of the Northwest Trade Ally Network, Pacific Lamp &Supply is a leader in energy-saving solutions and offers free energy audits. It is also a main supplier to the installer for the Community Power Works Program.

Community is important to the Pacific Lamp &Supply family and that includes performing community service. They are supporters of Catholic Community Services, the American Diabetes Association, the South Snohomish County Holiday Toy Shop, the St. Martin de Porres Shelter and Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted.

Pacific Lamp &Supply is actively involved with NAILD, the National Association of Independent Lighting Distributors. In fact, Shannon Reynolds Carr is the current secretary-treasurer and education chair of that organization.

The company is a member of IMARK Group, Inc., the largest member-owned and governed cooperative in the U.S. electrical industry. IMARK consists of more than 1,100 independently owned electrical distributors throughout the United States.

Pacific Lamp &Supply is still a secret to many businesses in Snohomish County. There is just one location, on Fourth Ave. S. in Seattle, and there is no showroom. The company has free delivery options with trucks serving Snohomish County customers twice each week.
