TULALIP — A Tulalip man pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing $5,400 in gaming chips from a Tulalip tribal casino.

Hatch pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle to theft by an employee of a gaming establishment on Indian lands, a felony. His sentencing is scheduled Jan. 18. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Tulalip Tribal Gaming Commission and the FBI.
Snohomish: Man arrested in burglary
Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a three-week string of burglaries of businesses in a 10-block area of Avenue D.
Late Tuesday evening, Snohomish police, working on information provided by the Monroe Police Department, went to a home where they believed they would find the suspect. The man fled on foot. A few minutes later, a nearby citizen notified police of a suspicious person who turned out to be the suspect.
Snohomish police, assisted by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, tracking dogs and the Washington State Patrol, captured the suspect in a crawl space of an abandoned house.
The suspect has lived in the Snohomish and Monroe areas. Police say he confessed to 10 Snohomish burglaries and is a person of interest in at least two Monroe burglaries. He has been booked into the SnohoÂmish County Jail.
Mountlake Terrace: Sex offender jailed
A level 3 sex offender who had spent time in a home next to a Mountlake Terrace school was jailed Tuesday for violating the conditions of his release, officials said.
Timothy McKenna, 54, failed to participate in sexual-deviancy treatment on Sept. 27, state Department of Corrections spokesman Chad Lewis said.
Officers took him back into custody Tuesday and he was sent to the Spokane County Jail, which is where his post-release supervisor is based, Lewis said.
McKenna had lived in Marysville but often visited a house in Mountlake Terrace.
School officials at the North Sound Christian School, near where McKenna stayed, had hired a security guard and raised concerns about ÂMcKenna’s close proximity to the school.
McKenna was convicted of first-degree rape of child in 1996. The victim was a 6-year-old girl McKenna knew. McKenna also pleaded guilty to third-degree rape in 1991 in connection with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old pregnant girl who flagged him down and asked him to drive her home.
Mountlake Terrace Police Chief Scott Smith praised corrections officials for taking swift action.
“If you have conditions that you need to be held accountable for, and you’re not, and if it means you go back to jail, then so be it,” he said.
Everett: Candles cause apartment fire
An apartment fire Wednesday morning was sparked by candles in a bedroom and caused about $30,000 damage, officials said.
Crews responded just before 8 a.m. to the 7700 block of Timber Hill Drive, said Glen Martinsen, fire marshal with the Everett Fire Department.
Firefighters quickly put out the blaze. No one was injured, Martinsen said.
The Red Cross offered assistance to the sole tenant who was displaced, he said.
The fire was ruled accidental, Martinsen said.
