I guess if you live long enough, you see everything.

The latest is the banter that the next one to fill Head Coaching Job X in college football is ... RICK NEUHEISEL.

Yes, THAT Rick Neuheisel. The same one who's run up more NCAA infractions than career victories. The same one censured by the College Football Coaches Association. The same one who treated NCAA rules as his own personal challenge to sneak around. The same one who turned the Colorado and Washington football programs into Louisiana-Monroe.

Heard he was a candidate for the Mississippi job before Houston Nutt pounced. Some are whispering his name for the Washington State opening. Still others, presumably the ones still suffering from a cranial injury induced by a frying pan, want him to return to Washington.

Let me up!

Unless Rick has undergone a complete recovery from Get Over Yourself Disease, universities are only asking for it if they hire this guy.

It's so preposterous it might be true. Watch him return to UCLA, his alma mater. It'll be fun for a few years. Watch him alienate the rest of the Pac-10 coaches. Watch him renew his dust-up with Mike Bellotti. Then watch the Bruins collapse like the Kingdome under all that weight from NCAA sanctions.

Wow. THIS is higher education?
