The race for governor will be close. How close is unclear if you look at the two latest polls matching incumbent Democrat Gov. Chris Gregoire against Republican Dino Rossi.
Today, the Rasmussen Poll showed Rossi with a 1 percent edge, 47-46, among 500 likely voters questioned on the phone. That is a statistical tie.
Gregoire enjoyed a much better showing in The Washington Poll released Feb. 21 by UW researchers.
She led Rossi by 12 percent, 54-42, in the survey of 300 registered voters – each of whom also took part in an October 2007 survey conducted by the same group. At that time Gregoire’s advantage over Rossi stood at 47 percent to 42 percent. The number of polls will multiply in the coming months though the most important poll comes Election Day with the counting of ballots – or maybe a few months later with a recount given the history of these two politicians. > Give us your news tips. > Send us a letter to the editor. > More Herald contact information.Talk to us
