LYNNWOOD – A kitchen fire this morning has left a Lynnwood family homeless, fire officials said.
The fire broke out around 10:45 a.m. in a rental home in the 2400 block of 135th Place SW, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
The blaze was contained to the kitchen but smoke damage spread throughout the house, forcing the family, a mother and six children, to find another place to stay, Hynes said.
The family did not have insurance and the Red Cross is responding to provide assistance.
The mother and three children were home when the fire started. They escaped unharmed, Hynes said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating.
