Wine auction celebrates 21st year

The Auction of Washington Wines celebrates its 21st year this August, and plans to mark the occasion with events in support of charity.

Wine auctions, charity runs and gourmet meals are spread between Chateau Ste. Michelle, Woodinville, and Red Hook Brewery, Woodinville, from Aug. 14 to 16.

The three-day celebration includes:

A picnic with winemakers and barrel auction on Aug. 14. Tickets are $125 per person.

Winemaker dinners on Aug. 15. Attendees visit local estates and wineries for a gourmet meal by a noted chef alongside Washington winemakers. For details on participating chefs and wineries, visit www.auctionofwashingtonwines.org. Tickets are $250.

The Covey Run 10K race, for ages 21 and older, the TalkingRain 5K, for all ages, and the Kids Dash, free for ages 14 and younger. The events include a grape stomp, music and prizes. Runners in the 5K and 10K can register for $25 at www.runforchildrens.org until Aug. 11, or at the event for $30.

The Coming of Age Gala Auction on Aug. 16. The event includes fine dining, a live auction and the Brian Nova Orchestra as entertainment. Tickets start at $500 per person.

The Auction of Washington Wines serves as the philanthropic wing for the Washington wine industry. The auction has raised more than $19 million since its founding in 1988, with proceeds supporting the Children’s Hospital &Regional Medical Center and the Washington Wine Education Foundation.
