And now, quite the variety of wins for the Jackson Timberwolves this season.

After a 50-49 overtime victory last week and a 35-14 Wesco South victory Friday night over Kamiak, it was as close to opposite as games can be.

“Kamiak presented challenges different than Lake Stevens,” Jackson head coach Joel Vincent said. “I was nervous all week long. We have been through a tough three-game stretch. You wonder how long the kids can hang in there. But give our kids the credit because it showed on the field.”

Jackson’s diverse offense ran from a multitude of sets and its defense controlled the action early on against Kamiak and allowed the Timberwolves to dominate the field position battle.

Taylor Cox scored Jackson’s first touchdown on a direct-snap, 22-yard run, putting Jackson up 7-0. Then Cox scored again, slashing into the end zone from 3 yards out. That score put Jackson up 14-0 at halftime. The T-Wolves ran 14 times for 121 yards, with the lump of those carries coming in the first half.

“We have three guys that can take snaps and run the offense,” Vincent said.

Vincent also said the job the Timberwolves’ defense did really set the tone for the offense. Jackson had 50 or fewer yards to go on four of their five touchdown drives.

Kamiak, shut out last week, remained scoreless into the third quarter. Kamiak quarterback Sam Ruppel directed a solid drive, calling his own number for a 39-yard quarterback scramble and on the next play ran 5 yards up the middle for a Knights touchdown with 17 seconds remaining in the period. Ruppel finished the game 10-for-17 passing for 141 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Josh Glenn. Glenn had seven catches for 73 yard and Aaron Miller had eight rushes for 71 yards.

Shorecrest 16, Meadowdale 12: At Edmonds, Nick Terrel kicked three field goals, two in the fourth-quarter field goals to give Shorecrest the Wesco 3A victory. Terrel connected from 31 yards with 7:10 to play to give the Scots a one-point lead, then again from 23 yards with 2:56 to play. Jordan Brown scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run for Shorecrest. Michael Harris led all rushers with 115 yards on 22 carries. Shorecrest quarterback Sam Heck completed five of 12 passes for 96 yards. Harris had two catches for 59 yards. Running back Naji Moore-Taylor scored one Meadowdale TD on a 3-yard run. The other came on a 95-yard kick return by Cameron Bayer, who also had six receptions for 98 yards. Meadowdale QB Matt McDonagh completed seven of 13 passes for 108 yards. Shorecrest out-rushed Meadowdale 219-51 and had a 20-minute time of possession advantage.

Mountlake Terrace 14, Shorewood 0: At Shoreline, the Shorewood Thunderbirds’ chance of a comeback was stymied in the fourth quarter Friday, when Mountlake Terrace went on an 85-yard drive that spanned nearly the entire period and was capped off with a 7-yard touchdown run by Casey Ellersick. When the Thunderbirds got the ball back they were down two touchdowns with 46 seconds remaining.

Oak Harbor’s James Jordan scored a touchdown in the third quarter to give the Wildcats the lead but Stanwood responded with a safety and Wooldridge’s two touchdowns.

Arlington 21, Monroe 14: At Arlington, the Eagles scored 21 unanswered points capped by a Kellen Botten 29-yard TD run with 1:05 remaining in the game to take the lead and escape with the Wesco North victory. Botten totaled 104 rushing yards on 13 carries. Arlington quarterback Jake Parduhn was 13-for-21 for 212 yards and two TDs. Monroe’s Connor Shellford connected on a 74-yard pass with Cody Elledge to take a 14-0 lead, but Monroe was unable to score again.

Archbishop Murphy 68, Lakewood 35: At Everett, Archbishop Murphy scored 41 points in the first quarter, Jake Clark returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown as time expired and Archbishop Murphy overwhelmed Lakewood in a Cascade Conference game. Alex Martinez carried nine times for 82 yards and Murphy pounded out 275 yards on the ground. Lakewood’s Justin Lane passed for a school-record 325 yards, on 26 of 43 attempts with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Lakewood’s Jordan Stauffer caught 12 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns.

Providence Classical Christian 5, Grace Academy 1: At Mountlake Terrace, Eric Moisant scored two goals and assisted on another to help Providence Classical Christian (2-0-1) roll to the Northwest 1B League victory over Grace Academy (4-1-1). Tyler Hatcher, Beau Butaud and Andrew Moisant each chipped in a goal for Providence Classical Christian, while Tim O’Kelly scored Grace Academy’s lone goal in the 19th minute. Goalkeepers were not reported for either team.

Volleyball

Providence Classical Christian 3, Grace Academy 0: At Marysville, Providence Classical Christian defeated Grace Academy 25-22, 25-22, 25-18, improving to 1-1 in the Northwest 1B League (4-5 overall). Cassie Chung had seven kills, seven digs and three blocks for Providence Classicial Christian. Teammate Melissa Moisant had eight digs and three kills and Darby Chung had five kills and 13 assists. Katie Mittelstaedt and Hannah Krumm each had a pair of kills for Grace Academy (0-4, 0-6).

North Sound Christian 3, Skykomish 1: At Mountlake Terrace, Tori Speck had 12 kills, Malorie Mahler had 25 assists and Victoria Patterson had nine aces, nine kills and nine digs to help North Sound Christian take a Northwest 1B League victory over Skykomish 25-10, 25-12, 24-26, 25-12. North Sound Christian improved to 7-1 overall and in league. Skykomish fell to 1-3 overall.
