PREP SOFTBALL/BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Glacier Peak catches Lynnwood for second place

BOTHELL — Lynnwood encountered undefeated Jackson earlier this season, and Tuesday night it was Glacier Peak that was the Royals’ nemesis.

Lynnwood, which was sandwiched between the two teams in second place of the Wesco South, fell to Glacier Peak 11-1 Tuesday night at Lynnwood H.S.

The Royals’ six errors combined with Glacier Peak’s 15 hits made for a rough outing for Lynnwood, now tied with GP at 7-2 in league.

GP leadoff hitter Miranda Granger batted 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Teammate Annie Reynolds added a double and triple, going 4-for-5 with another two runs scored.

“They strung hits together along with our six errors,” Lynnwood head coach Matt Rockne said. “We only gave up one walk, but anytime you have six (errors) it is going to be costly.”

Rockne said that its two lopsided games can be contributed to its defensive mistakes, with five errors against Jackson and the six Tuesday night against the Grizzlies.

“I told our team ‘We just gotta shake this one off and get after it Thursday,’” against Edmonds-Woodway Rockne said.

GP starting pitcher Kaylee Lawson had a no-hit bid through four innings, until Lynnwood strung together three hits for its one run of the game in the fifth.
