ARLINGTON — A man died Saturday evening after he drove his van off State Route 530 into the Stillaguamish River midway between I-5 and Arlington.
Witnesses reported that a vehicle was traveling east bound on SR-530, crossed the westbound lane then drove into the river just after 7 p.m., said Trooper Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol.
Rescue later pulled an unidentified man from the van.
The accident is under investigation.
It’s the second time in one day dive crews and a hovercraft were sent to the river for a water rescue.
Earlier in the day rescuers pulled out a woman who got caught up in a tangle of submerged debris while tubing.
