Two Asian carriers announced orders for Boeing Co. 777 aircraft on Wednesday.
Cathay Pacific said it will buy 12 Boeing 777 jets in an order valued at more than $3 billion at list prices. The order includes four 777-300 Extended Range passenger planes and eight 777 freighters. The carrier didn’t disclose how much it paid for the Boeing airplanes, but jet makers tend to discount from list prices.
Cathay said it expects Boeing to begin deliveries in 2013.
Singapore Airlines also said it will order eight Boeing 777-300 ER jets. The order is valued at $2.3 billion at list prices. The carrier said Boeing will deliver the 777s beginning in 2013.
