MARYSVILLE — A death investigation is under way after a man’s body was found Tuesday in rural Snohomish County.
County sheriff’s detectives found the body in an undisclosed outdoors location in the Granite Falls area, sheriff’s bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.
They were following up on a tip, he said. The death is considered suspicious, and the Major Crimes Unit is handling the case.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed an autopsy of the body, a spokesman said. Officials are waiting to contact the man’s family before releasing his name or the circumstances of his death.
Major Crimes detectives also have been looking for a man who is believed to have been fatally shot in a gang-related home-invasion robbery in the Marysville area in December.
Prentiss on Thursday declined to say if the body found this week is connected to that case.
“I can only say it’s an active criminal investigation with our Major Crimes Unit,” he said.
