Edmonds: Foundation earns White House honors
The Our Family for Families First Foundation was recognized Monday as a Top 20 Finalist and the People’s Choice Award Winner by the White House’s Joining Forces Community Challenge.
The challenge was launched by first lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden to recognize individuals and organizations that serve military families.
The foundation provides scholarships for children and spouses of active-duty military personnel serving in seven locations throughout the country. It received nearly 17,000 votes from Jan. 24 to March 16 to earn the People’s Choice Award.
Edmonds’ Maria Montalvo, who serves as the foundation’s executive director, was invited to a recognition ceremony April 11 at the White House.

Marysville: All City Music Concert tonight
Hundreds of elementary choir students will be part of the Marysville All City Music Concert tonight.
The 7 p.m. concert at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School gym involves choirs and directors from Marysville Elementary Schools. There is no entrance fee.
Marysville-Pilchuck High School is located at 4220 80th St. NE.
Elementary students plan to stage play
Shoultes Elementary School students plan to perform “Beauty and the Beast.”
Performances are set for 2 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Friday at the school, 13525 51st Ave. NE.
The Shoultes School Choir is set to entertain with songs from the musical.
Donations will be taken at the door.

Monroe: Community asked to provide input
The Monroe School District is hosting a community forum to help set school priorities for the 2012-13 school year.
The forum is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the library of Wagner Center, 639 W, Main St.

Sultan: Chamber to hold fundraiser
The Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce is looking for donations for a fundraising auction scheduled for 5 p.m., April 7, at Camp Huston Conference Room, 14725 Ley Road, Gold Bar.
The event is to raise funds for the Sky Valley Visitor Information Center.
