Two skateboarders were arrested in Everett last week after getting into a scuffle with the police.
It sounds like a skit from a 1980s Keanu Reeves movie, but these were grown men.
Their hijinks landed both of them in the county lockup for investigation of obstruction.
The confrontation happened Aug. 24 at the corner of Oakes and Hewitt avenues, where skateboarding on sidewalks is forbidden, according to the Everett police blotters shared on Facebook.
A bicycle officer patrolling nearby spotted two men on skateboards, according to the blotters. They dismounted as he approached but then got back on their boards and took off.
The rest of the encounter is described by police below:
The officer grabs his bicycle, and the chase is on. While additional officers converge on the area, the officer catches the boarders. Surprisingly, they refuse to comply with his order to stop and a struggle is on. The officer takes one boarder to the ground but looks up as the second pulls his board back to use as a bat. The officer transitions to his sidearm, and it is a skateboard versus gun standoff. Supporting officers arrive and immediately assist the second boarder to the ground.
