Pacific Northwest ballet: A new season starts in September. Season tickets are on sale now and can be bought without service fees through Aug. 10. “Celebrate Seattle”: 6 p.m. Sept. 16. This event combines music, dance, video and song and features the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra performing music from “Back to the Future,” “Lost in Space” and “The Pink Panther,” paired with Stravinsky, Bizet, Dvorak and Beethoven.

“Cinderella”: Sept. 21. This performance honors founding artistic director Kent Stowell as his choreography recalls Cinderella’s long-lost mother in a tender memory scene and then returns her in the guise of the Fairy Godmother. Opening night also includes a performance of “Circus Polka” with music by Stravinsky and choreography by Jerome Robbins

“The Sugar Bean Sisters”: Eric Lewis directs this simple story about romance, murder and alien abduction as the Nettle sisters are determined to escape spinsterhood with Willie going to Salt lake City to find a Mormon husband while Faye is waiting for the space people; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays Aug. 31 through Sept. 23 at the Phoenix Theatre, 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds. “Murder on the Nile”: The Edmonds Driftwood Players presents this Agatha Christie mystery that takes place aboard a steamer, where honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves pursued by an old flame of the newly wedded groom. Then tragedy strikes — a murder on the Nile; 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays Sept. 7 through 23 at Driftwood Players, 950 Main St., Edmonds. Tickets are $25 and $22. “And Then There Were None”: More Agatha Christie this time presented by Curtain Call Theatre and taking place in an island house as those guests inside each succumb to a diabolical avenger; opens at 8 p.m. Oct. 18 and runs through Oct. 28 at Northshore Senior Center Stage, 10201 East Riverside Drive, Bothell. “The Sunshine Boys”: This Neil Simon play focuses the one-time vaudevillian act of Al Lewis and Willy Clark, who, over the course of 40-odd years, grew to hate each other. It is now 1972 and CBS is inviting the team to reunite for a special on the history of comedy, but will this cantankerous duo get in the same room? Shows are Sept. 21 through Oct. 7 at Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets will be on sale soon. Go to www.everetttheatre.org/.

“Big River”: Village Theatre Launches its 2012-2013 season with this powerful bluegrass/country musical — with music and lyrics by Roger Miller — based on Mark Twain’s classic tale “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” Shows are Oct. 26 through Nov. 18 at Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave., Everett.
