How many of you even knew that the 2012 Paralympics were being held right now in London? I had to do some searching to even find out if it was being televised. Looks like American television seems to think it is only worthy of a few hours of their time when there is over 780 hours of competition going on.
The opening ceremony was on Aug. 31 and the closing ceremony will be on Sunday. I find it more inspirational watching athletes who have to put more effort into winning than the ones who competed just a few weeks ago. It really is disheartening that the press doesn’t even bother to cover it. Did you even know that the U.S. has 14 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze medals and we are ranked sixth in overall medals? More than likely you don’t because the press doesn’t find it worthy of reporting it.
Really sad that this wonderful event gets little or no coverage but what passes as politics these days gets tons of coverage. I wish it were the other way around.
