Poor air quality in the Kittitas Valley has prompted the Central Washington University athletic department to move Saturday's home football game against Humboldt State from Ellensburg to Bothell.
This is the second straight Wildcats home game that has moved to Pop Keeney Stadium because of fires in central Washington.
"We had a fantastic turnout last Saturday when we played Azusa Pacific there," CWU athletics director Jack Bishop said, "and we hope to see even more fans this Saturday. We hate to have to move the game, but the forecast is for poor air quality and we just won't subject our players, their players, or the fans to that."
Pop Keeney Stadium is home to the Bothell, Inglemoor, and Woodinville high school football teams. It seats 4,500. A crowd of 2,300 attended last week's game as the Wildcats beat Azusa Pacific, 41-17.
Central is 3-1 and 3-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. Humboldt State is 4-0 and 3-0.
