The WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers will host "Sound Living: A One Day Communiversity" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 20 at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower Ave., Everett.

People can explore the connections between land, water and community at more than 25 presentations, such as "The Pharmacy in Your Backyard" and "Wildlife of Port Susan."

Keynote speaker Nir Barnea of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will present "Marine Debris: The Global Problem and its Local Impacts," describing the Japanese tsunami, NOAA's response and his role in dealing with resulting marine debris.

Registration is $20 per person through Wednesday and $25 per person beginning Thursday. Discounts are available for groups.
