See more leaves
Do you have photos of the autumn colors to share? We’d love to see them. Post them or take a look at what others have posted in our reader galleries.
Why do the leaves change color?
And do we really only get yellow leaves around here? Read this 2009 story by Herald writer Bill Sheets.
Where to see fall leaves:
The following list was compiled a few years ago from suggestions by local parks directors. It is by no means comprehensive. Many other parks have beautiful fall leaves as well, and any drive into the Cascades or even down one’s own street is likely to turn up some nice color.
• Olympic View Drive, 76th Avenue W. to 88th Avenue W., Edmonds
• Kayak Point State Park, 15610 Marine Drive, south of Stanwood
• Robe Canyon Historic Park, seven miles east of Granite Falls off Mountain Loop Highway
• Lord Hill Regional Park, 12921 150th St. SE, between Snohomish and Monroe
• Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, Japanese Maple Grove, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett
• Langus Riverfront Park, 400 Smith Island Road, Everett
• Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett
• Lowell Park, 4605 S. Third Ave., Everett
