LYNNWOOD — Led by Jacob Perkins’ 19 points and the stout defense of Griffin Over, Meadowdale defeated Lynnwood 65-55 and earned a victory on its home court in both teams’ season openers on Tuesday night.
“This was a really huge game for us,” said Mavericks head coach Andy Streit. “We wouldn’t have won tonight without Jacob’s rebounding or Griffin’s seven steals.”
Perkins rebounding effort included 12 on the offensive end. Over, in addition to his defensive play scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers.
The Royals were led offensively by Thomas Susnios, who finished with 19 points.
Despite the victory coach Streit added that Tuesday’s game might not be typical of future Meadowdale showings.
“Susnios had a good game,” said Streit. “He’s tough to stop, and admittingly we didn’t know much about (Lynnwood) going in. We made adjustments on the fly. We are learning on the spot and we are estatic to get the win.”
