Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1962)
Samons Electric & Plumbing Supply, 2116 36th St., was celebrating its fourth anniversary. Greeting customers were Dick Samons, owner; Lillian Samons, officer manager; Dave Schwartzmiller, store manager; Skip Murker, appliance department; Joe Gerdon, plumbing department; Ed Schack, light fixtures department; Carol Richardson, bookkeeping department; and Larry Udman, shipping and receiving.
Construction plans were displayed this week by manager N.P. "Jack" Gardner for the Marysville branch of Seattle-First National Bank. The new structure would be on the southwest corner of State Ave. and 5th St. with parking to the south and west. The exterior would feature marblecrette and stone in rubble style and extensive use of glass panels.
25 years ago (1987)
Members chosen for The Herald's All-Area football first team offense were Corey Dire, Mike Addicott, Kyriacos Tsircou, Dough Reuwsaar, David Bergmann, Matt Strieby, Pat DeLeon, Jim Schmidt, Bart Minogue, Eric Thorsen, Jean-Paul Felix, Ben Lane and Mike Dodd.
Named to the first team defense were Pat Deleon, Tom Osborne, Jay Schwartzmiller, Brian Burke, Andy Anderson, Will Guenthner, Dave Huber, Doug Wartelle, Aaron Cunningham, Shane Volkmann, Mike Addicott, Stan Williamson, Robert Jesus and Mike Dodd.
