‘Sunshine Concert’ to glow with wide range of music

Talk about getting a bargain. Artistic director Fred Chu said the audience will receive their money’s worth Sunday at Pacifica Chamber Orchestra’s “Sunshine Concert.”

“There will be lots of music,” Chu said.

Chu said the music selections include a “wide range of fun pieces from Norway to Argentina.”

The concert will include the talents of two guest soloists.

Mezzo soprano Joy Baldridge will sing arias from operas by Saint-Saens, Berlioz and Handel.

The chamber’s viola player, Agnes Chen, will bring “lots of sparkles to the concert” by performing a viola solo with string quintet by Italian composer Cavallini.

To entertain the audience in an uplifting way, Chu said the orchestra has prepared the “Libertango” by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola.

The program includes the “Holberg Suite” by Grieg; “Fantasia for Viola, and String Quintet” by Cavallini; arias and songs by Berlioz; Wind Quintet, Op. 43 by Nielsen; Concertino for Strings, Op 47 by Goosens; and “Libertango for String Orchestra” by Piazzola

“As always we have lined up the music for all to enjoy the ‘sunshine,’” Chu said.

“The Sunshine Concert” is at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Tickets are $10 and $15. Call 425-743-0255 or go to www.pacificachamberorchestra.org.
