MARYSVILLE — Fabian Panduro scored the game’s lone goal in the 50th minute off of a free kick to lead Marysville Pilchuck to a 1-0 victory over Marysville Getchell in a Wesco 3A North game played on Friday night.
Panduro’s goal broke up a defensive battle, that was, according to Chargers’ head coach Geoff Kittle, even on both sides of the ball.
“It was a midfield battle,” Kittle said. “The game was pretty back-and-forth. Both sides fought really hard and played really physical. I didn’t see either team put amazing pressure on goal. We knew (going in) that it was going to be one of those games that came down to one or two stops.”
Despite the play between the two rivals, Kittle acknowledged that shots on goal didn’t appear to factor into the game’s final score and that both sides played with everything they had.
“I wanna say that each team had about five (shots on goal),” said Kittle. “(Marysville Getchell goalkeeper Cameron) Carter had to make a few more saves in the game and had a little more pressure on him. This was pretty evenly fought match. The Getchell guys left everything out there, Pilchuck played really hard and really wanted it.” At Marysville Getchell H.S.
