Prep baseball: Glacier Peak 8, Meadowdale 6

LYNNWOOD — Behind a strong outing by starting pitcher Tanner Braun and three runs in the top of the seventh inning, Glacier Peak came from behind to defeat Meadowdale 8-6 in a Wesco 3A South game on Tuesday.

Braun pitched a complete game and batted 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBI as the Grizzlies handed the Mavericks their first league loss of the season.

“Those two hits he had today were two of the biggest hits of the year for him,” said Grizzlies head coach Bob Blair. “Neither were hit very hard he was just good at putting the ball in play. On the mound he looked stronger as the game went on. I talked to him after each inning to see if he was OK, but he just kept throwing harder and harder and harder and was not going to let me take him out.”

The seventh-inning rally for Glacier Peak was fueled by infield singles and choppers hit up the middle.

“In that inning there was no really big hits,” Blair said. “Again it was just about putting the ball in play and a few seeing-eye singles.”

Meadowdale’s Ryan White went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI in the loss.
