MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A Lake Stevens man with two young children in his car was arrested for investigation of drunken driving Tuesday night after crashing into a wooden barrier at the end of a dead end street.
No one was hurt, but a boy, 4, and girl, 8, were visibly shaken, Mountlake Terrace police Cmdr. Doug Hansen said.
A witness said the car appeared to be traveling well over the 50 mph speed limit in the 22500 block of 52nd Avenue W. The crash was reported shortly before midnight.
The man, 25, told police he thought he was driving on a street several blocks away. He indicated that he was returning the children to their mother’s apartment.
He also was arrested for investigation of driving with a suspended license.
