On Nov. 18, my daughter's school, Shoultes Elementary, performed their Veterans Day assembly since last Monday school was closed for the holiday.
This is the fourth one I have attended since my daughter started in kindergarten, and they get better and better every year.
I don't think I will ever have the words to do justice to the appreciation I have for all of the staff at Shoultes, those that facilitated the assembly, and to the new music teacher who directed the choir. Regardless of the assembly, the entire staff at Shoultes Elementary have my most sincere respect for what they do every day for our children. Their dedication to educating and guiding the students is the standard that every school should strive to be.
My biggest thanks goes to the students at the school. As reflected by how they are taught and guided, I am impressed more and more as I see these kids grow.
I have lost quite a few friends while I was in the Army, and have for a very long time harbored an anger and resentment due to their deaths. This has caused me to question why I even served.
I can say with absolute certainty that had my friends, as well as all Armed Services members, been able to witness the assembly today, they would not have changed a thing. Personally, it also answered and showed me why I served.
Thank you so much to all the staff and students at Shoultes Elementary!
