State parks, national forest will be free for MLK Day

Washington state parks will be free on Sunday and Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Day. National forest lands, as well as other federal lands, will be free on Monday only.

For state parks, that means you won’t need a Discover Pass to use any of the parking facilities at the parks around the state. You will, however, still need one to access Washington Department of Natural Resources or Department of Fish and Wildlife lands where a pass is required. Get more info here, including the free days planned for the rest of the year.

For the Forest Service, that means that more than 75 day-use sites in the Mount-Baker Snoqualmie National Forest that usually have fees will be free on Monday. Other national forests will also be free. Get more info about the forest here. See what agencies participate in the fee free days, as well as when they are scheduled for the rest of the year, here.
