Hear live music, meet dogs up for adoption

Shakaroo, one of the Everett Animal Shelter’s most popular events, is on Feb. 15 at the Everett Performing Arts Center.

Local reggae/rock band Nigel Mustafa will perform. The event features a pooch parade showing adoptable dogs from the shelter. The dogs will strut their stuff and show off any tricks they know. During intermission there will be a “whine &wine” event where people can meet the dogs.

“The event is really fun and is a great evening for the whole family,” said Dee Cordell, shelter operations coordinator. “Our dogs enjoy their time in the spotlight and love meeting all of the guests. It’s a great chance for people to get to know the shelter and in past years, all of the dogs who are a part of Shakaroo have been adopted within a couple weeks of the event.”

All of the funds raised during the event support the shelter’s vet clinic, which provides medical care for shelter pets.

Tickets are $20 and on sale now at the Everett Animal Shelter, 333 Smith Island Rd., via email at shakaroo@everettwa.gov, or by calling 425-257-6040.
