With the busy summer season coming to an end, Washington State Ferries is preparing to alter the schedule this week and fares next month.
On the Mukilteo-Clinton route, that will mean fewer late-night sailings during the week.
The 11 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. boats out of Clinton and the 11:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. sailings from Mukilteo will be halted Sundays through Thursdays, according to the schedule released Wednesday by the agency. Those runs will continue to be offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
As for fares, the surcharge added during the peak season of summer will go away Oct. 1. The surcharge varies, ranging from $1.60 for a small vehicle and driver on the Mukilteo-Clinton route to $2.70 for the same vehicle and driver traveling the Edmonds-Kingston route.
Also in October, two-boat service on the Port Townsend-Coupeville route will come to an end. Starting Oct. 14, only one boat will ferry passengers and vehicles between the two communities.
