Mercy Transportation owner wins national award
The Taxicab, Limousine &Paratransit Association has named Shirley Allen as the 2014 Paratransit and Contracting Operator of the Year. Allen, and her husband Les Allen, started Mercy Transportation in Everett in 2006 to provide non-emergency medical transportation. They decided to get involved with the transportation industry seeing it as a rewarding opportunity that would allow them to give back to the community.
New pharmacist joins Kusler’s in Snohomish
Ryan Malcom has joined the team at Kusler’s Compounding Pharmacy in Snohomish. Malcom has been a pharmacy intern at Kusler’s for the past four years and has trained extensively under owner and pharmacist, Dawn Ipsen. He graduated with his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the nationally ranked University of Washington School of Pharmacy this past spring.
PUD offers assistance programs for those in need
In the coming year, Snohomish County Public Utility District expects its energy assistance programs to help more than 17,000 seniors and low-income customers struggling with their electric bills. The utility also offers assistance through Project Pride, the Snohomish County Office of Weatherization &Energy Assistance and Northsound 211. More information is available at www.snopud.com.
Workshop in Bothell aims to help remodelers
The City of Bothell will host a First Timer Workshop for homeowners and business owners considering their first remodel or tenant improvement. The workshop, that features permit information and more, is 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Bothell Police Department Community Room, located at 18404 101st Ave. NE. Refreshments will be served. Frog Lady featured in new Ripley’s book
An Edmonds woman has been featured in “Reality Shock!” a new Ripley’s Believe It or Not book. Thayer Cueter, known as The Frog Lady of Edmonds, has built up a collection of more than 10,000 items of frog-related memorabilia, including 400 Kermit the Frog toys, 490 plush frog toys and 20 different pairs of frog pajamas.
Comments sought on plan to remove contaminated soil
The public is encouraged to review and comment on proposed plans for digging up and taking away contaminated soil at the North Marina Ameron/Hulbert site near Port Gardner Bay.
