Monday’s letter, “SnoCo PUD: Very difficult to reach by phone,” from a customer who wanted to report a streetlight problem, could have used some fact-checking before being published.
Our customer service line, 425-783-1000, which is prominently displayed on most customer correspondence, including bills and our website, is fully staffed during business hours. We called the letter writer Monday morning, and he told us that he had used a phone book to get the number, and wasn’t sure what number he called. A PUD staff member offered to give this customer his direct phone number for any future issues, but the customer declined to take it.
The streetlight in question is in fact maintained by the city of Everett, not the PUD. Much of the street lighting in our service territory is owned and administered by cities and towns. On our website, www.snopud.com, the PUD maintains good information and answers to frequently asked questions about street and area lighting. (From the home page, click on “Residential,” then on “Street &Area Lighting.”) Customers can also report a street light problem from this page.
As a community-based organization, the PUD makes customer service a top priority. A simple phone call from The Herald to this letter writer, or to us, would have avoided the reporting of misinformation that hurts both our organizations.
