Impound car when stopped

For a long time, as disgusted as I get with the number of drunk drivers, I have not written with my suggestion about how to deal with this problem. We need to get these people out of cars, and the only way I see for that to happen is to impound their cars, when first stopped. I wish someone would draft a new law. First offense, impound their car for at least a week. Second offense, for at least a month, and increase the penalty for repeat offenders. And this would apply to whoever’s car they were driving. Higher penalties in case of DUIs causing property damage, and even more harsh in cases causing personal injuries. If a license is suspended, the car driven will be forfeit. Even if it is someone else’s car. Who will loan a car to a DUI offender? In the case of a stolen car, that should automatically bring license revocation, as well as other provided penalties.

Another aspect has to do with insurance. We have a problem with uninsured drivers. I don’t understand how in this digital age, we can’t require proof of insurance for a driver to get a license, and even to renew a car license. Let’s get serious about stopping the carnage.
