To me, Sid Schwab’s column has become like a “Seinfeld” episode on TV (without the warmth, charm, and humor): you know what each character is going to say before they say it, but you watch anyway; you know what Sid is going to write each week, but you read anyway.
He is obviously exasperated with his mission to make everyone accept he is right, and each week has increasingly sputtered and fumed over the blind nitwits in the world who just won’t buy in. Now he has taken a new approach in his Quixotic quest: he liberally (get it?) sows tinyURLs throughout his columns. If we won’t believe Sid, we must believe a website, because everything on the Internet (that supports his world vision) is true, right?
So I invite Herald readers to join me in a new game: count the tinyURLs. In the four weeks I’ve been playing, he had six, then seven, and this Wednesday he set a new record with eight. It will be interesting to see how many he can jam into a column.
Funny thing, though — I am no more inclined to agree with him than before, but at least I found a way to enjoy (endure?) his pecksniffian vociferations.
