Seahawks coach Pete Carroll described No. 1 running back Marshawn Lynch as day-to-day during his Wednesday press conference.
Lynch sat out Monday night’s 13-10 victory over the Detroit Lions because of a hamstring injury. It was just the second game Lynch missed in his six seasons with the Seahawks. But Carroll expressed hope Lynch would be ready in time for Sunday’s difficult road game against undefeated Cincinnati.
Lynch is one of two Seahawks running backs who are considered day-to-day. Fred Jackson, who suffered a high-ankle sprain Monday, is also questionable. However, Carroll was surprised Jackson was moving as well as he is, so that’s a positive sign.
Carroll said the other starter who missed Monday’s game, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, looks good and should be able to play Sunday.
Cornerback Marcus Burley, who suffered a broken thumb during Monday’s game, is set for surgery Thursday. Carroll said it’s possible Burley could make a “very quick recovery,” though it depends on what happens with the surgery.
Two players who missed Monday’s game, defensive end Demarcus Dobbs (shoulder) and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (hamstring) will have decisions made on them later in the week. Cornerback Tharold Simon (toe) is set to miss out again this week.
