All Aboard Washington wins $5,000 grant from BECU

Local non-profit All Aboard Washington has won a $5,000 Community Benefit Award at BECU’s People Helping People Awards. More than 170 nominations were received. All Aboard provides recreational, social and educational activities for adults with special needs and helps them develop an active, positive and inclusive lifestyle. Weekly activities such as bowling, cooking and karaoke are just a few ways adults can get involved.

Boys &Girls Clubs gets $20,000 grant from Medina Foundation

Boys &Girls Clubs of Snohomish County has thanked the Medina Foundation for a $20,000 grant and for partnering with them to further their mission to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Seattle-based Medina Foundation helps fund human service organizations that provide direct support to Puget Sound area residents.

Lenders to meet with farmers, food-related businesses in Mount Vernon

Beginning, minority, and U.S. veteran farmers and food-related businesses are invited to an all-day event to meet face-to-face with representatives of lending programs and financial institutions that provide loans from less than $5,000 to more than $300,000. Children’s author to speak at Snohomish Grow Washington Store

To celebrate Halloween, local children’s book author JoAnne Nelson will read her newest book, “The Witches’ Little Sister,” at 2 p.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Grow Washington Store, 1204 First St., Snohomish.
