OK, so the creator of “Stone Soup” is scaling back. That’s fine. But why can’t The Herald use this as an opportunity to improve the comics page, instead of saddling it with another lame, unfunny, sub-par strip like “Luann”? Gee, was “Mary Worth” and “Apartment 3-G” unavailable? I could name a dozen great and worthy strips off the top of my head that would better grace your pages. Once again, who is choosing these replacements, and how does that process take place? It must take considerable effort to so often scrape the bottom of the barrel. With so much depressing news filling the rest of your pages, your readers need a good chuckle in the morning. Right now, it’s almost tied with the Business page for most boring section.
I suggest you pass the Comics Editor title to Jon Bauer, who writes “The Buzz.” He seems to be the only Herald staffer who has a sense of humor.
