EVERETT — Archbishop Murphy advanced to state with a victory over Burlington-Edison in a 2A District Tournament game Friday night.
The Wildcats (10-0) utilized a two-headed attack on the ground, with Kerry Jackson rushing for 99 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries and Anfernee Gurley adding 85 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Gurley also caught six passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Other highlights for Archbishop Murphy included quarterback Connor Johnson going 11-of-14 for 139 yards and a touchdown, and sophomore defensive back Kyler Gordon punctuating the win with a 99-yard interception return for a score.
