REDMOND — Samantha Drechsel pounded out a whopping 38 kills and dug up 23 balls to carry the Eagles to state on Saturday after beating the host Owls in a five-set, loser-out thriller in the 1A Bi-District Tournament.
Tess Biscup added 12 kills, Chloe Biscup tacked on 10 kills and Emily McKenzie dished out 52 assists for the Eagles (16-4).
Cedar Park Christian-Bothell won the first two sets of the match, but dropped the next two to set up a climactic fifth and final set in Overlake’s home gym.
The Eagles prevailed 15-9 and will find who they’ll be playing as a No. 2 seed in their state tournament opener when the draws are released on Saturday.
Drechsel added 14 kills in a three-set sweep of Bear Creek in another loser-out match Saturday.
