KENEWICK — A man is facing a murder charge with aggravating circumstances in the death of his 21-year-old girlfriend in Kennewick who was allegedly shot inside a vehicle while the couple’s 22-month-old son was in the back seat.
The Tri-City Herald reports the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office filed the second-degree murder charge against Francisco Javier Munoz Quintero Wednesday. Prosecutors cited the aggravating circumstance as a child being present when 21-year-old Luisa Garcia Farias was shot.
Court documents say Munoz Quintero told investigators he had been arguing with Garcia Farias in her vehicle when he pulled out a gun. He said the two struggled and the gun went off.
Garcia Farias was taken to a hospital and later died.
Munoz Quintero was ordered Monday to be held on $500,000 bail.
