Blood is needed
The Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross is asking people to give blood as part of an ongoing drive. The next donation event is scheduled for 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at 2530 Lombard Ave., Everett. Anyone under 18 must have parental consent. Donors must have identification. People can make appointments in advance as well.
Plan for visitors: A workshop series aimed at promoting tourism in the Skykomish and Snohomish river valleys is starting March 7 and 8 at The Rock Church in Monroe.

Gender diversity talks: The Snohomish School District has scheduled two series of meetings aimed at bringing understanding to gender and transgender issues.
The school board has been mulling an anti-discrimination policy that deals with access to restrooms and locker rooms, sports participation and dress codes. People who want to attend are asked to sign up at tinyurl.com/zpjlxnb. The policy meetings are scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Monday and April 11 at the district office, 1601 Ave. D.
Four other meetings are scheduled in March for those interested in learning how to talk with kids and teens about the issues.
The discussions at middle schools will be geared toward elementary and middle school audiences. Talks at high schools will provide information appropriate for teens and adults. Attendance is limited so people must sign up at tinyurl.com/hfcbtfz.
